Wondering how to change the look of your room when you’re on a budget or you just don’t have the time? There are a few ways, like painting or updating a piece of furniture, but the easiest way is by simply adding a new area rug. An area rug is a clever way to change how your room not only looks but also feels. The wide variety of choices offered makes it a great piece that can tie a room together. We offer many different border options and combinations to finish custom area rugs. Below are a few examples.
This is an example of Binding or also called a Bound Area Rug. It is typically the easiest and least expensive method of finishing a carpet edge. Binding the edge of a carpet involves wrapping the strip of fabric (generally made from either polyester or cotton) around the edge of the carpet and stitching it in place.
This is an example of a Serged Custom Area Rug. Serging resembles a thick fiber that is wrapped around the edge of the carpet continuously. It is often considered to provide a higher-end look than binding.
Top Stitching means that the thread is visible on top of the binding and face of the rug. Opposed to, Blind Stitching that means the thread is hidden and not visible on the face of the rug. In the picture, the top rug is an example of Top Stitching with Mitered Corners and the bottom rug shows Blind Stitching with Mitered Corners.
