TRENDING FLOORS IN 2022

We’re here to help you find the latest, greatest trending floors in 2022!

The flooring industry is continually advancing to meet new trends and adjust to customer needs. From green materials, rustic looks, and cost-effective materials, the perspective of flooring offers a few invigorating changes that will have a major effect on the décor style of your home. In the following, we’ve put together six of the newest asked for products for this new year.

1. NATURAL FIBER PATTERNED CARPET

If you’re looking to replace your carpet, the trending style for 2022 is natural fiber patterned carpet in neutral colors. The small picture below is an up-close example of a natural fiber patterned carpet. GODFREY HIRST WAFFLENatural fiber carpet is made from either sisal, seagrass, coir, jute, or wool. Wool is breathable and a natural insulator, so it’s warm in winter and cool in summer, and also good for absorbing noise. All of these fibers will give your space a natural vibe and they emit low or no VOC’s into our homes, so not only good for the planet but good for our health, too. The patterns range from subtle to bold. Some of the more popular pattern choices are herringbone, geometric, floral, and stripe. Neutrals or earth-tones are an enduring trend as people are spending more time at home and want to feel comfortable and cocooned. Carpet can be used all over the house but is mostly used in bedrooms, or anywhere you want to feel cozy and relaxed. Because natural fiber carpet is always on-trend the patterned carpet will more than likely last for decades to come.

2. HARDWOOD FLOORING AND LUXURY VINYL IN PRETTY PATTERNS

Hardwood is always on-trend, but in 2022, the new thing is that these wooden and luxury vinyl floors have a twist. Have you ever seen a patterned wood-looking or wood layout? These stylish-looking floors have patterns that change the whole look of any room. This year, specifically, patterns like Chevron or Herringbone will be seen in homeowners’ kitchens, bathrooms, and more. So, we’re sure that patterned floors are officially here, and you should not miss out.

3. VINTAGE BLACK AND WHITE

In 2022, black and white tiles are making a strong comeback. It’s not the same old black and white checked tiles that you’re picturing. Instead, it’s bold, florals, graphics, and more luxurious.  More and more customers are looking for an updated vintage feel type of flooring. This includes different size tiles with newer graphic patterns. This combination of vintage and modern gives the perfect look and feel.

4. LAMINATE

Laminate is making its way back up the popularity chain in 2022. The reason customers are liking laminate is the price, the new looks and styles, and the ease of installation for DIYs. Laminate is popular for both commercial and residential spaces. We are seeing home and business owners gravitate toward light wood and wide-plank laminate flooring. Additionally, homeowners are looking for water-resistance and stain-resistance features.

5. BOLD PRINTED AREA RUGS

Up until recently, rugs tended to be solid, neutral colors and for the bedroom only, but patterned carpets are now coming back into the picture, and moving into the living room and dining room, too. Choosing a rug with a bold color or pattern might sound intimidating, but if you love it, go for it. The addition of color creates emotion, drama, and depth. And the color choice has huge effects on the overall atmosphere of the room. For example

  • Reds are the most stimulating color and surprisingly, the color red encourages your appetite – so it is perfect for use in the dining room.
  • Strong, bright and neon colors can have a powerful effect on you. Colors like bright red, bright yellow and neon green can feel energizing and make you feel more alert.
  • A burst of yellow helps give your design energy and will give you and your company a feeling of being optimistic and cheerful.
  • Bold colors will grab your attention and stand out from their surroundings.
  • Highly pigmented, strong colors like royal blue, turquoise, magenta and emerald green can also have a stimulating effect and make you feel refreshed and energized.
  • Pops of purple make a design look more luxurious and wealthy.

6. LIGHT COLORED OR WHITEWASHED FLOORS

It all depends on personal taste but it seems customers are putting grays on the back burner compared to lighter colored flooring. Floors that are light in color will open up a space, making it feel larger so it makes sense that in a time that we are confined to our homes, we’d want to make our surroundings feel more spacious. Light-colored floors also compliment the darker pieces in the room very nicely.

One of the newest trends this year is the use of whitewashed wood in the home. When I think of “whitewashed” I think of a smooth white surface, but whitewashed hardwood is not. It typically shows the natural wood tones without appearing too loud or bold in your home’s design. Whitewash will make your home look brighter, bigger, and more relaxed, especially because lighter wood colors are trending toward cooler tones. Will the light color, whitewashed wood trend last beyond 2022? Natural wood is a timeless piece that will stay trendy for many, many years to come.
