Today I’m sharing with you some interesting Trending Rug Styles in 2020. The Ikat design will be big in 2020. Ikat is a resist-dyeing technique where the threads used for weaving are dyed beforehand. The Ikat threads are bound in a pattern so that the threads covered by the binding “resist” the dye, which forms into a pattern. A characteristic of Ikat rugs is a ‘blurriness’ that is the result of the extreme difficulty that traditional Indonesian hand-weavers had in creating perfect patterns using the dyed yarns in their rugs. This blurriness came to be seen not as a flaw, but as a defining feature of ikat rugs.
The next stylish trend is layering your rugs. Although you might be hesitant to try this new trend, the options and results can be unlimited. Room-sized rugs (9’x12′ and above) can be on the expensive side, but if you opt for the smaller version of your dream rug, you can easily layer it atop a more reasonably priced natural woven rug for a cost-friendly option that achieves a similar look.
